Do Tag Clouds Help or Hinder SEO?

Came across this video of Matt Cutts discussing tag clouds yesterday.

Short, to the point and very relevant for anyone with a blog (especially Wordpress) who just has a bunch of widgets around without a real purpose for them being there.
